Directions from Lithgow

Take the Great Western Highway towards Bathurst, then take the turn off to Mudgee which is the Castlereagh Highway (on the left) approximately 8 klms from Lithgow. Continue on the Castlereagh Highway through Lidsdale, Blackmans Flat and Cullen Bullen. We are about 6klms from Cullen Bullen towards Mudgee on the left hand side of the road. Keep an eye out for a small green M95 road sign, and as soon as you see it put your indicator on and turn left before the yellow buffer on the end of the Armco railing. The Wallabies Rest sign on our front gate. If you get as far as Jews Creek you have gone too far.

The Area

We are in the outer surrounds of the Lithgow local area featuring lovely parks, a swimming pool and/or lakes, restaurants and entertainment. Ten minutes up the road is the charming village of Capertee with a pub, and take away/general store and petrol available around the clock. In the other direction is the whimsical town of yesteryear, Portland complete with another pub, cafes and a take away, club and news agency.

Travel Time

Just a half hour drive from the Lithgow CBD and 40 minutes from the glorious Capertee Valley. A scenic forty five minute drive takes you to the sister towns of Kandos and Rylestone with attractions galore, as well as Glen Davis and Glen Alice and the Wollemi National Park of which the scenery is truly breathtaking.

Our Location

The tent site is near the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and offers a true feeling of solitude with opportunities for bush walking and bird watching, as does the Gardens of Stone just a bit further up the highway. We are 95klms from the town of Mudgee offering restaurants, shops and wineries just waiting for your patronage.
