Wallabies Nest is a spacious caravan with a large, under cover and fenced play area/verandah suitable for young children and families wishing to escape the city. Easily accessed directly off the Castlereagh Highway, via an internal road suitable for any vehicle.
Peter and Tracey welcome you with colouring books, pencils and yummy sweets to delight the children. Our caravan features an amazing firepit stocked with timber which promises fun and memorable family experiences.
There is a CD player on the deck for entertainment and in keeping with the environment, the caravan has an off grid solar power system featuring all the comforts from home including air conditioning and television. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, gas stove, sink and cupboards with hot and cold running water and a smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. The bathroom has a flushing toilet and shower plus sink. The master bed has an electric blanket with built in wardrobes and the bunks have doonas for warmth and are closer to the reverse cycle air conditioner. Outside on the attached deck is a table and chair setting, single sofas, two sun lounges plus a gas barbeque with stainless steel counter and sink.
We are in the outer surrounds of the Lithgow local area featuring lovely parks, a swimming pool and/or lakes, restaurants and entertainment. Ten minutes up the road is the charming village of Capertee with a pub, and a takeaway/general store and petrol available around the clock. In the other direction is Portland, a whimsical town of yesteryear complete with another pub, cafes, a takeaway, a bowling club and golf club, public swimming pool, newsagency and an IGA grocer. We are just a half hour drive from the Lithgow CBD and forty minutes from the stunning Capertee Valley. A scenic 45 minutes drive takes you to the sister towns of Kandos and Rylestone with attractions galore, as well as Glen Davis and Glen Alice and the Wollemi National Park of which the scenery is truly breath taking.
Lake Wallace, near Wallerawang is 20 minutes from us and is set aside for non powered boating (such as sailing boats and canoes) with fishing, lovely picnic areas and BBQ facilities.
Wallabies Nest is located beside the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and is easily accessible by foot or car from the site with opportunities for bush walking and bird watching. We are 95 kilometres from the town of Mudgee offering restaurants, shops and wineries just waiting for your patronage.

Cancellation Policy: If two weeks notice is not provided prior to the check in date, the costs will not be refunded. Prepayment: The total price of the reservation is charged at the time of the booking.
Meals: No meal is included in this room rate.

Smoking:
Smoking is not allowed. Strictly no smoking in the tent, if you must smoke please use the fire pit area and leave butts in the fire pit. Please make use of rubbish and recycling bins provided in the kitchen and on the deck.
Pets: Pets are not allowed. Peter and Tracey enjoy living on their small farm with their horses and dogs. The pets love visitors but cannot access the tent. Pets are not allowed as we are very respectful of the environment and wildlife.
We accept Credit Card Payments through Stripe (Mastercard, Visa, AMEX, Debit Card). You do not need a Stripe Account to be able to pay by Credit Card. We do not store Credit Card information on our server, for the security of your information.

"Wallabies Rest" is a fully self contained and spacious glamping tent with a large elevated deck in the central tablelands of NSW. An easy 30 minutes drive north of Lithgow and within one hour of the vineyards of Mudgee, this location is ideal for day trips and experiences within the region, including the stunning Capertee and Newnes Valleys, Bathurst, Lake Wallace, Rylstone and the old gold mining town of Sofala. There are numerous quaint country pubs, food retailers, and restaurants in the area.
The tent is located on a small farm and adjacent to the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area, with assured privacy and rural farm views. Late in the afternoon you can sit on the deck and watch the kangaroos and wallabies grazing peacefully, hence the name "Wallabies Rest" and in the morning wake to native bird calls. There are plenty of bush walking or horse riding trails in the State Forest adjacent. Please do not feed the wildlife bread as it harms them.
"Wallabies Rest" is directly accessible from the Castlereagh Highway at Ben Bullen with access suitable for all vehicles.

Outdoors:
A BBQ and outside sink are on the deck along with an alfresco table with two chairs and two sun lounges with a side table. Below the deck is a fire pit on a large cleared area with chairs and a garden hose for any fire mishaps. Please note, no fires during any fire bans, as you appreciate this is beyond our control. The car park, deck and fire pit can be illuminated for use at night.
Ben Bullen is located on the Castlereagh Highway (almost) halfway between Cullen Bullen and Capertee.
The place name Ben Bullen is derived from the local Aboriginal word meaning “high, quiet place”.
The village was formed when the railway was constructed in the early 1880s. While goods trains still use the railway line the small railway station is closed. Since the closure of the railway station a bus service serves the community.
Ben Bullen is surrounded by picturesque cattle grazing land and the Gardens of Stone National Park. Farming and coal mining are the main local employers.
