Wallabies Nest is a spacious caravan with a large, under cover and fenced play area/verandah suitable for young children and families wishing to escape the city. Easily accessed directly off the Castlereagh Highway, via an internal road suitable for any vehicle.
Peter and Tracey welcome you with colouring books, pencils and yummy sweets to delight the children. Our caravan features an amazing firepit stocked with timber which promises fun and memorable family experiences.
There is a CD player on the deck for entertainment and in keeping with the environment, the caravan has an off grid solar power system featuring all the comforts from home including air conditioning and television. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, gas stove, sink and cupboards with hot and cold running water and a smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. The bathroom has a flushing toilet and shower plus sink. The master bed has an electric blanket with built in wardrobes and the bunks have doonas for warmth and are closer to the reverse cycle air conditioner. Outside on the attached deck is a table and chair setting, single sofas, two sun lounges plus a gas barbeque with stainless steel counter and sink.
We are in the outer surrounds of the Lithgow local area featuring lovely parks, a swimming pool and/or lakes, restaurants and entertainment. Ten minutes up the road is the charming village of Capertee with a pub, and a takeaway/general store and petrol available around the clock. In the other direction is Portland, a whimsical town of yesteryear complete with another pub, cafes, a takeaway, a bowling club and golf club, public swimming pool, newsagency and an IGA grocer. We are just a half hour drive from the Lithgow CBD and forty minutes from the stunning Capertee Valley. A scenic 45 minutes drive takes you to the sister towns of Kandos and Rylestone with attractions galore, as well as Glen Davis and Glen Alice and the Wollemi National Park of which the scenery is truly breath taking.
Lake Wallace, near Wallerawang is 20 minutes from us and is set aside for non powered boating (such as sailing boats and canoes) with fishing, lovely picnic areas and BBQ facilities.
Wallabies Nest is located beside the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and is easily accessible by foot or car from the site with opportunities for bush walking and bird watching. We are 95 kilometres from the town of Mudgee offering restaurants, shops and wineries just waiting for your patronage.
